π Say NO, So you can say YES! π€
Starting a business is a race to get get it to support your family & yourself, sometimes its hard to say no but you should.
When starting a business it can be very tempting to say yes to everything a potentional customers asks. This might be ok, when it closely aligns with your business goals. However when customers start to ask for you to do a service that is outside your business wheel house you should always say no.
π§ Donβt lose focus
Saying yes to jobs that are outside your core business offerings forces you to loose focus. This can be tempting when your just starting out and money is tight but over my years of experience I learned it just pulled my mental focus away and lead to being a distraction. I can say more than once I made this mistake.

πΈ Added Costs
Adding something new to your offering & especially offering something new one time comes with an increased costs, this cost could be in your time to learn, or it could be some new equipment that needs to be purchased in order to do the job. Back in college I was running a DJ service, I would get odd requests all the time and always say yes. I ended up with storage units full of one time used equipment.

πͺ Build Inter Strength
Building a business is hard work, & while your small itβs important to practice saying no, so that you become ok with the act. As your team grows it will be more important that your willing to stand your ground with customers & employees, so that you can see your vision come together.

π€· What to do?
When customers ask for things that are outside the norm of what you typically work on you can do the following.
Provide Alternatives
Make them feel heard
Saying no when the ask is outside your wheelhouse can open up your time for larger opportunities & puts your focus back on the core operation goals.
